Eat More & Lose Weight

April Kids Camp

Enjoy daily yoga classes and utilize the holidays to learn yoga and mind-body awareness in this 10 days yoga camp. It combines the discipline of yoga and the fun and freedom of the holidays. The program allows children to understand the basic principles of the whole food plant-based diet, respect for all religions, develop a loving and respectful attitude towards the planet and all its beings.

Children are able to identify with the inner self within a group setting by practicing yoga. Yoga asana, meditation, breathing, relaxation, games, chanting, magic tricks and lectures are some of the daily activities.

There will be plenty of freshly made healthy snacks, juices, fruit-salads and cool drinks (sattvik), fun and games, all with the same goal of fostering the qualities of co-operation, respect and friendship.

Dates: 28th April to 7th May 2014 (10 days)
Hours: 4 to 6 pm daily
Age Group: 6 to 13 years
Donation: Rs. 2,500 per child for the whole course

Headstand (Sirsasana)

Practice coming in and out of the posture with proper control, balance and grace. Become aware of the numerous physical, mental and spiritual benefits of the posture, which are the reasons for it being famously known as the "King of all Asanas".


Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar)

The Sun Salutation, originally practiced as a form of ritualistic worship, is a holistic health practice. The whole being is set in motion, physically, mentally and spiritually. Learn the correct alignment in each step, combined with correct breathing and mental awareness, which turns the practice into a relaxed meditative experience.


Hip Flexibility & Sitting Postures

Study the basic anatomy of hip joints, lower back, knees and ankles.
Practice various hip opening postures and different sitting postures for Pranayama and Meditation, such as the famous lotus pose, padmasana.


Backward Bends in Detail

Learn the basic anatomy of backward bends and techniques of coming in and out of the postures correctly and gracefully. Practice correct alignment and application of strength to avoid injuries and increase the comfort-level and holding-period for obtaining optimum benefits.


Spinal Twists

Learn lateral spinal twists like the ardha-matsyendrasana (Half Spinal Twist) and trikonasana (Triangle) in detail and learn the anatomy and science behind the benefits derived from them. These are beneficial for people suffering from scoliosis (abnormal lateral curvature of the spine). Learn about the several other benefits for general health by attending this course.


Forward Bends in Detail

Practice a number of different forward bends to work on the whole body: neck, upper & lower back, hips, ankles, etc. Learn the correct breathing techniques and required mental attitude for forward bends.


Relaxation Special

Grasp hold the ancient secrets of relaxing the mind, body and soul. Learn how to relax properly, get relief from chronic stress and the hustle-bustle of the new-age lifestyle. Understand the importance of proper relaxation in the 21st century and maintaining a healthy mental perspective towards everything and in all situations even in the hectic metropolitan areas.


Raja Yoga Course

Learn the background and history of this style of yoga which is closely related to Hinduism. Study the mental faculties: mind, intellect, emotions, ego etc, and the thought process.


Hindu Gods & Goddesses Course

Learn the symbolism, stories and chants of some of the most well-known Hindu Gods & Goddesses.
Experience the Satsang (a group activity consisting of meditation, chanting, lecture and rituals) as performed in the Sivananda Centres and Ashrams daily.
