Who can benefit from this course?

Yoga teachers
As a yoga teacher, in 5 days you will acquire a Sivananda India Certificate to teach adapted yoga. You will be able to

The Teachers

Padmini Mathur, creator and presenter of the course, is an experienced yoga teacher and TTC graduate from Sivananda Dhanwantari Ashram. Her expertise lies in adapting Yoga for people with different health issues.

Nataraj, Director of Sivananda Dhanwantari Ashram, is a qualified physician and senior yoga teacher. He will be a guest teacher on the course.

Please have the following available:

  • A yoga mat
  • A chair with a straight back and arms
  • A sturdy table
  • Two or three cushions
  • A stable, high-speed internet connection
  • Preferably a laptop or tablet (a larger screen is helpful)

DAY 1
Chair Yoga — Theory and practical sessions on how to teach and practise asana & pranayama while seated.

DAY 2
Body Systems and Adapted Yoga — How to manage and adapt your class to those with mixed abilities.
Gentle Sivananda Yoga — A gentle, modified version of the Sivananda class.

DAY 3
Hypertension and Heart Yoga — The cardio-vascular system. What is hypertension? How yoga can benefit people with heart issues? Theory and practice.

DAY 4
Musculo-skeletal System — Challenges of the back & spine, knee, hips and other joints. Theory and practice.

DAY 5
The Digestive System — Yoga for digestive disorders. Theory and practice.
Laughter Yoga — Cultivating joy and compassion.

Please note that the sessions will be video recorded so they can be available for

  • Any participant who is unable to attend a class.
  • For all course participants to review again what had been taught.
  • For publicity purpose.
