Travel Information

By Air

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. From here, you can travel by car to Netala. Alternatively, you can fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, and then travel by train or road to Haridwar or by connecting flight to Dehradun before continuing on by road to Netala.

Chopper services are also available from Sahstradhara to Chinyalisaur, with a 45-minute drive from Dehradun Airport to the helipad, followed by a 20-25 minute chopper ride and a one-and-a-half-hour drive to Sivananda Kutir, Netala. Please note that the baggage allowance is 5 kg, and there is a charge of Rs. 100 per additional kg. Services may be canceled on short notice during bad weather. By Train

If traveling by train, information can be obtained via www.irctc.co.in from New Delhi (NDLS) to Haridwar Junction (HW), with a travel time of approximately 5 to 6 hours. Please note that there is no train service to Uttarkashi/Netala, and you are advised to book rail tickets as soon as possible. Train e-tickets can be booked up to three months in advance via the internet. Trains are usually fully booked closer to the time of travel.

By Bus

If traveling by road, it is recommended to plan your journey in advance and arrive at the Ashram before 5:30 PM. If you are running late, please call ahead and inform us of your expected arrival time. Night travel is not advised due to unpredictable terrain and weather, and some roads close at 9 PM. The journey from Rishikesh or Dehradun takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, and an additional hour from Haridwar.

From Haridwar to Uttarkashi, there is a bus terminal opposite the station, but bus travel is not recommended due to frequent stops and longer travel time. Shared taxis to Uttarkashi are available from Rishikesh and Haridwar, with most departing in the early morning. Expect to pay around Rs. 350 from Rishikesh (departs from Natraj Chowk) and Rs. 500 from Haridwar (departs opp bus stand). Shared taxis also stop frequently and seats may not be comfortable. From Uttarkashi, it is a further eight kilometers to Sivananda Kutir by taxi. Please make sure to ask specifically for Sivananda Kutir (near Siror Bridge), Netala, as there are several Sivananda Ashrams in the Uttarkashi area. By Taxi / Auto Rickshaw
