The Yoga Summer Teens’ Camp at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Meenakshi Ashram offers youth aged 12–14 a safe and supportive space to discover themselves through yoga, values, and meaningful community living.

Daily Activities at the Teens’ Camp

Each day at the ashram follows a balanced routine filled with fun, creativity and meaningful learning. The activities are carefully designed to engage the body, mind and heart, helping children grow with confidence and joy.

Highlights of the daily schedule include:

Gentle yoga taught in a playful and engaging way. Children learn the 12 basic postures, pranayama (breathing exercises) and relaxation while developing focus and discipline.

A quiet time for reflection. Children sit together to:

  • Meditate (or sit quietly for younger ones)
  • Chant joyful Sanskrit bhajans
  • Listen to short stories with moral and spiritual lessons
  • Play team building games
  • Arts and crafts
  • Storytelling and puppet shows
  • Group games (indoor and outdoor)
  • Music, dance, and drama sessions
  • Themed workshops with guest teachers
  • Guided day trips to nearby sites of interest
  • Nature walks and learning about the local environment

A peaceful end to the day where children can:

Important Information for Parents

To help your child enjoy a safe and smooth experience at the camp, please read the following carefully.

Please make sure your child brings:

  • Any prescribed medication they need
  • 3 towels
  • Swimming costume
  • Yoga clothes: loose trousers and t-shirts
  • Water bottle
  • Notebook and pen
  • Torch/flashlight with spare batteries
  • Comfortable clothes for day trips
    One passport-sized photo

Other Essentials

  • No pocket money is needed. If you’d like to leave a small amount for emergencies, you may deposit it with the Ashram staff.
  • Free laundry service is available for children.

To maintain a peaceful and focused environment for all children:

  • Children must stay for the full two-week duration. Partial stays are not allowed.
  • No phone calls in or out during the camp.
  • Parent visits are not allowed during the camp.
  • The Ashram is not responsible for lost or valuable items.
  • Please do not send:
    • Mobile phones
    • iPods, radios or music devices
    • Electronic games
    • Teen magazines or comic books
  • Parents are warmly invited to attend the graduation ceremony.
  • Children are free to leave after graduation.
  • Overnight stay after graduation is free for both children and parents (one night only).
  • This is a great opportunity to meet the camp staff and see what your child has experienced.

Accommodation

The Ashram offers five simple and functional types of accommodation.

Please note:

  • For all accommodation a mosquito net is provided.
  • Couples are not permitted to share twin rooms during the course.
