The 300-hour Advanced Teachers’ Training Course (ATTC) is a powerful step forward for certified yoga teachers ready to deepen their personal practice and teaching. Rooted in the classical tradition of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda, this month-long residential programme builds on the foundation of the 200-hour TTC and expanding your understanding of asana, pranayama, Vedanta, and Raja Yoga.

What makes the Meenakshi Ashram unique is its setting: a peaceful retreat in the foothills of the Western Ghats, just outside the ancient temple city of Madurai. Surrounded by forest, with a temple to Goddess Kali at its centre, this is a space where silence, nature, and tradition support deep inner work. It’s a rare opportunity to study advanced yoga in a truly sacred environment.

If you’re looking to go beyond the basics, challenge your limits, and reconnect with the deeper purpose of yoga, this is your path.

Daily Schedule

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Swami Sivananda

Each day in the ashram follows a balanced rhythm of spiritual practice, selfless service, study, and rest.
The schedule is designed to harmonize body, mind, and spirit—offering structure and serenity.

The day begins to prepare for the advanced pranayama. Ideally giving students some time to do kriyas like neti or prepare their bodies with surya namaskar.

One hour of pranayama tunes the mind and subtle energies inwards. This is a progressive practice and the keystone of ATTC.

Students join for meditation, chanting, and a reading from the Gurus. Satsang is mandatory for ATTC students.

Short light tea break for students.

Study of the nervous and endocrine systems and their relation to the practice.

Basic practice class to prepare the body for variations.

Enjoy a nutritious sattvic meal.

Enjoy a nutritious vegetarian meal, followed by one hour of selfless service—an essential practice for cultivating humility and community spirit.

Learn the basics of the Sanskrit alphabet for deeper understanding of the ancient texts and do an in-depth study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Short light tea break for students.

Dive into classical variations of the 12 postures, with longer holding of asanas. Precise and detailed corrections are demonstrated and practiced

A light, nourishing vegetarian meal served at sunset—supporting digestion, reflection, and quiet preparation for the evening satsang.

Wind down with meditation, chanting, and inspirational readings. Evenings may also include study nights, cultural events, or spiritual films. Mandatory for ATTC students.

Silence is observed to support rest, inner reflection, and integration of the day’s practice. Early sleep helps maintain energy and focus throughout the course.
