Our Courses

Each course is carefully sequenced to build your practice step by step.

Beginners’ Course

Our flagship introduction to classical Sivananda Hatha Yoga. The Beginners’ Course builds your practice step by step over 8 structured classes, supported by 10 open classes to help you repeat, settle, and gain confidence. Each session is 90 minutes.

We begin with simple body awareness relaxation and movement, learning how to release unnecessary tension. From there, the course introduces proper breathing techniques (pranayama) to steady the breath and support the mind. Once this foundation is in place, you are guided through the 12 basic yoga postures, practised in a clear sequence so the body learns alignment, strength, and flexibility safely.

As the classes progress, you are introduced to the sun salutation (surya namaskar), linking breath with movement in a steady flow. Each class builds on the previous one, with time for rest, observation, and questions. Short discussions on health and well-being help you understand what you are practising and how to carry it into daily life.

By the end of the course, you are able to follow a complete basic practice with confidence.

Weekend Beginners’ Course

The complete beginners’ curriculum delivered over four consecutive weekends, designed for those whose weekday commitments make a daily course impractical. You will cover the same essential ground as our standard Beginners’ Course — the twelve basic asanas, pranayama, relaxation, diet, and positive thinking — at a pace that fits a busy life. Longer weekend sessions allow more time for questions, individual adjustments, and reflection. By the end you will have a strong foundation in classical yoga and the tools to integrate a daily practice into your week. Suitable for absolute beginners with no prior experience.

Meditation Course

The Meditation Course offers a clear, structured introduction to meditation as taught in the Sivananda tradition. Guided by the twelve-step approach outlined by Swami Sivananda, each class builds your practice in a practical way.

You begin by learning how to prepare the body to sit comfortably, followed by simple breathing techniques to quieten the system. From there, the focus shifts to concentration practices and mantra repetition, giving the mind a steady point of focus. Each step is introduced gradually, with guidance on how to deal with common challenges such as restlessness, distraction, or sleepiness.

Alongside practice, the course explores how the mind works and how regular meditation shapes attention, clarity, and emotional balance. You are also guided on how to establish a daily routine that is realistic and sustainable.

Meditation holds a central place in yoga practice. With consistent effort, it supports calmness, reduces anxiety and agitation, and brings a sense of ease into daily life.
