Serve, Learn, Transform

Karma Yoga is the yoga of selfless service, a core teaching within the Four Paths of Yoga. It teaches that every action, when performed with the right attitude, becomes a means of spiritual growth. Rather than working for personal gain or recognition, Karma Yoga encourages us to offer our actions with humility, dedication, and without attachment to the results. In this way, ordinary daily work becomes part of our spiritual practice.

Selfless service helps purify the heart, reduce the ego, and cultivate qualities such as patience, compassion, and equanimity. It reminds us that spirituality is not limited to the meditation hall, but is expressed in every task we perform and every person we serve.

At a Sivananda Ashram or Centre, Karma Yoga is an essential part of daily life. Whether preparing meals, welcoming guests, caring for the grounds, or supporting programmes, each task is approached as an offering. By serving with awareness and a spirit of dedication, aspirants learn to bring the teachings into practical life and deepen their sadhana through action.
