What is Sivananda Yoga?

Sivananda Yoga is a classical, traditional form of yoga that integrates body, mind, and spirit. It’s not about achieving extreme poses — it’s about building a balanced, sustainable practice that improves your daily life.

Our founder, Swami Vishnudevananda, distilled the vast science of yoga into five simple principles that anyone can follow:

Five Points of Yoga

By closely observing the lifestyles and needs of people, Swami Vishnudevananda, a renowned authority on hatha yoga and raja yoga, synthesised the four paths of yoga into five basic principles that can be easily incorporated into a daily lifestyle providing the foundation for healthy living. It is on these five principles that the activities of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres are based.

Four Paths of Yoga

The Sivananda approach brings four streams into one daily practice. Each path trains a different aspect of the individual—action, emotion, mind, and intellect—so growth is balanced and practical.
