Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres & Ashrams

A living tradition of wisdom and service

The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres & Ashrams is a non-profit organisation rooted in the teachings of Swami Vishnudevananda and his teacher, our master Swami Sivananda Saraswati — one of the most influential yoga masters of the twentieth century.

Our mission is to share the classical teachings of yoga and Vedanta so people can grow in physical wellbeing, mental clarity and spiritual awareness. We combine the Four Paths of Yoga with the Five Points of Yoga so learners of all levels can practise yoga in a balanced and practical way.

Since 1963, many thousands of teachers have trained within this tradition, guided by the principle that “practice is worth more than tons of theory.” In India, the network includes four Ashrams — Neyyar Dam (headquarters), Madurai, Uttarkashi and Gudur — and four City Centres in New Delhi, Chennai and Trivandrum.

Our Ashrams are spiritual retreats for immersive study, practice and reflection. Our Centres offer a calm space in the city for yoga classes, meditation and guided learning. In both settings, visitors can learn and apply Swami Sivananda’s Yoga of Synthesis and the Five Points of Yoga.
