Sivananda India Affiliated Teacher
Terms and Conditions

Affiliation as a Sivananda India Affiliated Teacher is granted to support the outreach of the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda through individual teachers trained at Sivananda Ashrams.

Affiliation does not constitute employment, partnership, or franchise. Affiliated Teachers function independently while representing the values, discipline, and integrity of the Sivananda tradition.

Teacher affiliation is open to Yoga teachers who have successfully completed a Yoga Teachers Training Course at a Sivananda Ashram.

Approval is granted at the discretion of Sivananda India, governed by Sivananda Dhanwantari Ashram Trust. Preference may be given to teachers who demonstrate sustained involvement, discipline, and commitment to the tradition.

Applications are not accepted from Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, or Delhi, where Sivananda India operates its own centres.

Affiliated Teachers are authorised to conduct

• Beginners Yoga Courses
• Regular Yoga practice classes

Affiliated Teachers may not

• Offer Teachers Training Courses or certify teachers
• Teach or promote other Yoga schools or traditions
• Conduct fitness based or hybrid activities such as Zumba or Pilates

Any special workshops or retreats require prior approval from Sivananda India.

Affiliated Teachers are expected to teach with sincerity, discipline, and respect for the Sivananda tradition.

Teachers shall

• Maintain ethical conduct in accordance with the yamas and niyamas of Yoga
• Follow a strict vegetarian diet
• Abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
• Maintain a regular personal practice of asanas, pranayama, and meditation

Teachers are expected to begin and conclude classes using the prayers taught during the Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Course.

Affiliated Teachers may represent themselves as
Sivananda Yoga Teacher – Affiliated with Sivananda India

The Sivananda name and identity may not be modified, extended, or used to create sub affiliations, franchises, or partnerships.

Any public representation must reflect clarity, accuracy, and respect for the lineage.

Sivananda India and its authorised technology partner GetOnYoga may access student information related to classes conducted by Affiliated Teachers.

Student information may be used for

• Informing students about Sivananda India programmes and retreats
• Collecting feedback to support teaching quality
• Maintaining continuity of learning within the organisation

Student data will not be used for unrelated or commercial purposes.

Teacher affiliation is subject to periodic review based on student feedback, teaching quality, and adherence to guidelines.

Sivananda India reserves the right to suspend or withdraw affiliation in cases of

• Non compliance with teaching guidelines
• Misrepresentation of the affiliation
• Repeated negative feedback from students

Affiliation becomes active only upon formal approval by Sivananda India.

By accepting affiliation, the teacher agrees to abide by these Terms and Conditions and to uphold the values and discipline of the Sivananda tradition in both teaching and conduct.
