Online and Onsite [Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Meenakshi Ashram, Madurai]
Following in the footsteps of Swami Vishnudevananda, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams & Centres in India invite you to participate in a powerful MAHA RUDRA HOMAM to end the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Swami Vishnudevananda, a ceaseless advocate for peace, led numerous peace missions around the world to inspire unity amongst peoples—to see the same Self in all. He would say that at the root of every conflict lies ego and the pursuit of power; shed these and we are all One.
Let peace prevail.
Maha Rudra Homam, conducted by 60 Vedic priests, is an ancient Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Siva. Not just a religious ceremony, it is a spiritual journey that purifies soul and environment, bringing a powerful wave of positive energy and well-being. Joined by many thousands of peace-loving individuals around the world, both on-line and in person, this collective effort will foster compassion and harmony to inspire leaders to end the conflicts.
The Homam
The Maha Rudra Homam is a powerful Vedic ritual that holds immense significance in the Hindu tradition. Dedicated to Lord Siva it is performed to invoke his blessings for overall prosperity, removal of negative energies and spiritual growth.
The preparation and execution of the homam require meticulous planning, including selecting an auspicious date and gathering specific materials, with guidance from a knowledgeable pandit.
The ceremony involves several key elements, each with its own symbolic meaning and purpose. Its core revolves around the fire ritual, where offerings are made to invoke the blessings of Lord Siva.
Welcoming Rituals: These are initial rites performed to set a sacred and auspicious tone for the Homam, including Kalash Sthapana to invoke the deities and capture the essence of life.
Puja Ceremony: A series of pujas are conducted, each with its own significance and set of rituals, including a Ganesha puja to remove obstacles and ensure a smooth ceremony.
Mantra Chanting: Priests chant specific mantras to invoke divine energies and blessings. The more people join to chant this, the more positive and peaceful vibrations can be created and sent around the world.
Offerings: Various offerings such as ghee, grains, and herbs are made into the fire.
Homam (Fire Ritual): To offer oblations to Lord Siva and other deities.
Arati: To culminate the ceremony with light, symbolising enlightenment and purity.
